It was a sunny afternoon in 2010 and the parks were full. I remember it being one of the hottest days of the summer which brought out thousands of people.
At the time, there was a mini festival in 'London Fields' to promote the surrounding area - 'Hackney'.

Sometime just after midday a shot was fired and youths were seen running through the park. After a few moments it became clear that someone in the park had been shot. This individual had nothing to do with the confrontation and was sitting in the middle of a packed park with everyone else. We knew this because he was sat a few yards away from us.

The park was quickly evacuated and an air ambulance came to collect the victim of the incident. I heard the man survived.
When we think of gun crime in the UK we picture hooded thugs in dull empty parks. But on that day, i was presented with a completely different image.
